Saint Emelia Meeting July 11,2022
IMPORTANT INFORMATION: The painting night has been changed to August 11 due to many conflicts of members. We will begin the class at 5:30PM at St Basil. Please bring your favorite appetizer to share. We will paint on a 12X14 canvas and it was decided a flower would be the easiest. Cost for supplies will be around $5.00 each. Please let either Matushka Anne or Jenn Scully know if you will be attending.
Since we moved the activity back, our monthly luncheon is back. Tuesday, July 26, at 11:00 AM we will dine in Leland – New Day Café. Again please let Matushka Anne if you will be attending.
Nancy gave us an update on meals on wheels and Lynn is checking for gift baskets.
We discussed the use of electing/volunteering as officers for the sisterhood. We also again talked about our mission statement. We hope to have all plans in place for the new church calendar year September.
Officers are president (leader), secretary, flower committee, sunshine lead, activity arranger. Consider filling one of these positions as your ministry.

St Emilia Paint Night

Father's day Brunch
On June 5th, we discussed the menu for Father’s Day, June 19th. We have volunteers bringing: fruit salad, grits with cheese, sausage and biscuits, French toast casserole, orange juice, scrambled eggs, creamed chicken casserole, ham slices. If you are interested in bringing a dish, we would welcome it!
Meal Train for Bri Gasperson

St Emilia Women's Guild: Minutes from Apr 3
The St Emilia Women’s Guild met on April 3rd. The next meeting will be May 1st, following liturgy.
There will be no women’s dinner out this month.
Saturday, April 16: after Lazarus Saturday liturgy, we’ll need assistance with the palms and pussy-willows, and with placing the greens around the iconostasis. We will also be stuffing the eggs for the egg hunt. Please bring wrapped candy to place in the eggs.
We discussed the meal for Palm Sunday. Please bring your favorite dish (fish, salad, vegetable, or Lenten desert) to share after Liturgy.
Flowers for the tomb: Bring lilies or other white flowering plants. Please have them at church by Wednesday, April 20th. Flowers will be arranged on Friday, April 22 in the afternoon: we’d love your help!
If you would like to assist in putting together Pascha baskets for our children, please bring your donations by Friday, April 22. We have a sign up sheet for the following items: cheese sticks, red eggs, rolls, juice boxes, butter tabs, and kielbasa. We are preparing 20 baskets. If you’d like to donate, please contact M. Anne Gariano.
On April 23, we’ll be setting tables for basket blessing and feasting after service.
On April 24, the church hosts a Pascha picnic. Turkey and ham will be provided! Please bring your favorite dishes (salad, vegetables, and desserts) to share. We will also have the children’s egg hunt!

Lazarus Saturday
Come out on Lazarus Saturday to help us finish preparations for Holy Week and Pascha. We have a variety of tasks for all ages and skill sets! Note: Henry and Violet will be baptized at 8:30 AM. Come and support them before the Lazarus Saturday liturgy (now starting at 9:30 AM).
Akathist of the Theotokos
We will pray the Akathist of the Theotokos together on April 8 at 6 PM.
Compline: Great Canon of Repentance
Please join us for the beautiful, contrite Great Canon of Repentance on April 7 at 6 PM.
Church School Schedule
Please be aware there will be NO Saturday church school lessons on April 2 or 9 for adults or children. Families can find short activities in the “Passport Bin” by the bookstore for kids to do before or after each service, as we continue on our journey to Pascha. Immediately following Divine Liturgy on Lazarus Saturday, April 16, children and adults are encouraged to stay and help as we prepare palms and more for Palm Sunday and Holy Week. We hope to see you all at as many church services as you can attend. Our regular Saturday Church School lessons will resume in May.
Presanctified Liturgy: Apr 13
April 13th, at 6 PM, we’ll have Presanctified Liturgy, followed by a potluck Lenten supper. (Begin your eucharistic fast by noon.)
